Cancun
is ready to welcome you NOW!

“Cancun is not
only ready for the upcoming tourist season, but is ready now
with hotels
currently operating at 92 percent capacity,”
announced Tourism Secretary Rodolfo Elizondo on March 28th
when addressing several hundred international travel
industry delegates attending Tianguis.*
Thanks to a
massive US$20 million being pumped into restoration since
Hurricane Wilma shattered the tranquility of one of Mexico’s
premier tourist destinations last October, hotels and
tourist related attractions are reopening quickly.
Most
hotels will be opened by August, with sun-worshipers also
benefiting from a much larger carpet of Cancun’s
internationally acclaimed white sand beach thanks to an almost
doubling of its width in some places.
Elonzo has
good reason to feel positive about market recovery, adding,
“Today, every resort that opens up in Cancun is immediately
occupied.”
Thanks to its
abundance of natural resources, Cancun continues to attract
holiday-makers wishing to be reunited with nature.
Unlimited adventure for those seeking to enjoy the outdoors,
regardless of age or level of fitness.
Follow a
refreshing jungle trail leading to ancient Mayan cities,
along the way observing families of playful howler monkeys,
and trees filled with rainbow colored macaws, toucans, and
many other exotic birds. Underwater, explore the Great
Mesoamerican Reef, one of the world’s largest.
As dawn rises,
quietly navigate your kayak or sailboat around that next headland in search
of a hidden cove, its beach inviting you to stop for a few
hours of unimaginable bonding with nature.
To experience
ecotourism at its finest, we recommend two unique
attractions:

Xcaret.
A favorite eco-archaeological park where all the family can
experience the many natural flavors of Mexican culture
at their best.
Xel-Ha’ Waterpark:
A subaquatic paradise where you can discover, with just a
mask and snorkel, hundred of multicolored fish that live in
the river and inlet, surrounded by an emerald jungle and
exotic views.
Enough fun in
the sun? Now it’s time to come out and play under the stars,
or colorful Cinzano umbrella. Cancun nightlife enjoys a
well-earned reputation for its wide range of fine
restaurants and friendly bars catering to all tastes and
income levels.
Whether a
first time or returning visitor, the message from local
tourism officials is clear. Cancun is back in full swing;
its friendly residents, exciting attractions, and natural
beauty are waiting for you now.
* Tianguis: An authentic Indian market. The Tianguis
exposition is Mexico's largest annual gathering of travel
industry buyers and supppliers.
